Old Town
Old Town is a small hidden treasure east of the Gold Coast and south of Lincoln Park. It draws home owners who relish its historic charm and artistic and cultural activities. Cobblestone brick alleys, many that predate the Great Chicago Fire of 1871, are scattered throughout the vintage homes. Art fairs, fine dining, world-class theatre (home of the famed Second City) and thriving Wells Street boutique shopping are among the many diversions.
Lace up your walking shoes! One of the biggest draws for this intimate location is the easy walkability that Old Town has to offer. This makes it a constant attraction to homeowners and Chicagoans alike. Parking is a solid mix of permit parking (for residents) and metered parking (for shoppers). The plethora of taxi cabs, buses and Sedgwick "L" stop (Brown/Purple line) make traveling in an out of the area a breeze for residents and visitors.
For the homeowners, Old Town offers of mix of mid rise and walk-up condomniums, lofts, townhouses and stately single family/rowhome residences. The majority of residences have deeded or assigned parking included. Home prices run slightly less then the Gold Coast – but not by much.
The Old Town Triangle area was designated a Chicago Landmark District in 1977.
